Canvas: record page designer
Build the detail page by dragging blocks (fields, related lists, comments, attachments, widgets, buttons and tabs), per object and per role, with conditional visibility.
Under Settings → Canvas you design each object's detail screen by dragging blocks onto a builder canvas. It goes beyond field sections: you also place related lists, comments, attachments, history, calls, a widget (iframe), an action button and tabs that group blocks.
- Choose the object and, optionally, a role (leave it on "Object default" to apply to everyone).
- Drag blocks from the palette onto the canvas or click to add. Reorder by dragging or with the ↑/↓ arrows.
- For each block set the title, the width (half or full) and, in the Fields block, which fields go in and in what order.
- Optional: add a visibility rule so the block only shows when the record's conditions match.
- Click Save. Use "Restore default" to remove the layout and go back to the system default screen.
💡 Canvas is optional: until you save a layout for the object, the default detail screen stays the same. A per-role layout wins over the object default for users with that role.
💡 Fields not placed in any block appear automatically in an "Other" block and never disappear from the detail.
