Favorites · pinning records for quick access

Star the records you open all day long and reach them in one click, with no searching and no filtering. Your favorites list is yours alone, works with any object and is always one icon away, on the icon bar at the left of the screen.

There are always five or six records you open every day: the big account in negotiation, the customer in trouble, the supplier of the moment. Searching for them several times a day is waste. Starring them trades the search for a click, and the list is personal, so it reflects your routine and nobody else's.

Starring a record

  1. Open the record.
  2. Click the ☆ star next to the title. It turns gold, becoming ★, and the record joins your list.
  3. To unstar it, click the star again: it goes back to being hollow.
💡 The star works as a switch. The button reads Add to favorites when it is off and Remove from favorites when it is on.

Opening the list

On the narrow icon bar at the left of the screen, click the star icon. The name Favorites appears when you hover over it. If you prefer the keyboard, press G and then F, as long as you are not typing in a field. The list shows the most recent favorites first, with the record type on the right; clicking any row opens the record.

Example: The account executive at Norte Tech starred three companies in late-stage negotiation, two decision-maker contacts and the quarter's largest opportunity. Instead of opening the Companies list and filtering every morning, she clicks the star on the side bar and has all six records on screen, in the order they were pinned, newest first.

Permissions and limits

  • The list is individual: everyone has their own, and nobody sees anyone else's favorites.
  • Starring changes nothing on the record and notifies nobody. It is a marker just for you.
  • It works with any object: contacts, companies, opportunities, products and the objects your company created.
  • If the record is deleted, or if you lose access to it, the row simply stops appearing in the list.
  • There is no practical limit on how many you can have, but a very long list stops being a shortcut.

Common questions

  • My favorite disappeared, what happened? Either the record was deleted and is in the Trash, or your access to it changed. Restoring the record from the Trash brings it back.
  • Can I share the list with my team? No. For shared work, use a saved view on the object's list, or tags.
  • How is it different from Recently viewed? Recently viewed is automatic and passes; a favorite is your choice and stays until you remove it.
