Price lists and quantity tiers
Create price lists by currency, region, segment or channel, with validity dates, and register products inside each one with quantity tiers: from this many units, this unit price. On opportunity items, the price is filled in from the right tier, with nobody consulting a spreadsheet.
Price is rarely a single number. It changes by volume, by region, by channel and by period. Keeping that in a spreadsheet means the right version lives on somebody's laptop. Price lists bring that logic inside the CRM, with quantity tiers and validity dates, so the proposal goes out at the right price without depending on anyone's memory.
Creating a list
- Open Settings and, under Customization, click Price lists.
- Click New list and enter the Name, for example Wholesale, and the Currency.
- Fill in Region, Country, Segment and Channel if you like, which organize the lists by customer profile.
- Set Valid from and Valid until to give the list a validity window.
- Use Notes to record the commercial rule behind it and click Save.
Adding items and tiers
- In the list of price lists, click Items on the one you want.
- Click + New item.
- Link it to a product in the catalog from the list, or type the product name in the field below.
- Under Quantity tiers, enter From qty and the price per unit.
- Use Add tier for each step and click Save.
The rule for applying tiers is simple and predictable: the winning tier is the highest one whose minimum is less than or equal to the quantity sold. If no tier reaches the quantity, the item has no list price and the system keeps the price registered on the product.
How the list reaches the opportunity
On the deal screen, when you add items you pick the price list and the product, and the unit price is filled in from the tier that matches the quantity you typed. The system also suggests a list automatically from the customer profile, comparing the company's segment, region and country, the sale type and the currency against the dimensions and validity of the lists on file. It is only a pre-selection: as soon as you change the list by hand, the suggestion stops interfering.
Importing, cloning and repricing
- Import CSV: at the top of the items, paste lines in the format product, minimum quantity and price. Several lines for the same product become tiers. The header is optional, and the importer accepts a semicolon or a tab as the separator and a comma decimal. Click Preview to see how many products, tiers and links were recognized and which lines have errors, before you apply.
- Merge mode: updates the products named in the file and adds the new ones, leaving the rest of the list alone.
- Replace mode: the list ends up containing only what came in the file.
- Clone: creates a copy of the list with all its items, so you can build next year's version without starting over.
- Reprice %: multiplies the price of every tier in the list by the percentage you enter, accepting a negative value for a reduction. The screen asks for confirmation and then tells you how many items were adjusted.
Who can do it
Creating, editing, cloning, repricing and deleting lists and items all require permission to manage settings. Without that permission you see a notice at the top of the screen and can only look at the lists and items, which is enough to check a price.
Common questions
- The price was not filled in: confirm that a list is selected, that the product is in the list and that some tier reaches the quantity you typed.
- Can a reprice be undone? There is no undo. Clone the list before repricing when you want to keep the previous version.
- Can I have lists in different currencies? Yes. The currency is set per list, and the items are registered inside it.
- Does deleting a list affect old deals? Deleting removes the list and its items. Items already saved on opportunities keep the price that was actually used.
- The import warned that some products had no match: the item still goes in under the name you typed; the link to a catalog product happens when the name or the code matches a registered product.
