Object template gallery

The gallery offers ready-made objects, with their fields already configured, so you can create one in seconds instead of modeling it from scratch. One click on Use template creates the object, the Name field and every field in the model, and opens the new object's list. Objects that already exist in your organization show up as Already available.

Creating an object from scratch means deciding on a name, a plural, an identifier and then designing field after field. The Template gallery shortens that path for the common cases: each card is a whole object, with fields and option lists already defined, ready to become real in your organization.

How to use it

  1. Open Settings and, in the Personalization group, click Template gallery.
  2. Browse the cards. Each one shows the plural name, a short description and the list of fields that will be created.
  3. Click Use template on the card you picked.
  4. The system creates the object and opens its list. From there it behaves like any other object in the CRM.

The Event template, for instance, creates the Events object with the fields Date (date and time), Location (text), Capacity (number), Status (a select with Planned, Confirmed, Held and Cancelled) and Description (long text), plus the Name field that every object receives automatically and that is required.

Example: A consultancy needs to track the workshops it runs. In the Template gallery it clicks Use template on the Events card: within seconds the Events object exists in the menu, with Date, Location, Capacity and Status ready to go. It then opens Custom fields and adds only what is specific to the firm, such as Catering cost.

When the object already exists

If your organization already has an object with the same identifier as the template, the card does not offer Use template: it shows Already available and an Open button that takes you straight to the object's list. That prevents the classic mistake of trying to create something that already shipped with the product. Applying the same template twice duplicates nothing either: the second time, the action simply opens the existing object.

The gallery is a lean and deliberately small catalog: models that collided with objects the CRM already ships with, such as Project, Ticket and Contract, were removed precisely because those objects already exist in your organization. For anything not in the gallery, use the two neighboring paths: create the object under Settings, Objects, and then speed up the modeling with Field components, on the Custom fields screen.

Who can do this

Applying a template requires permission to administer settings. The action is recorded in the Configuration history as Applied template, with the object's name and the date, and the entry is only written when the object was actually created, never when the gallery merely opened an object that already existed.

Common questions

  • Can I change the fields afterwards? Yes. Once applied, the object is yours: rename, add and remove fields under Custom fields just like on any other object.
  • What language do the names come in? Labels are created in the language of whoever applies the template, and they become data belonging to your organization.
  • Can I delete an object created from a template? Yes, under Settings, Objects. It counts as a custom object, and deleting it takes all of its records along.
  • Where do I see who applied it? Under Settings, Configuration history, filtering by Template.
