Account plan

The Account plan is the standard object where you write down your strategy for an important customer: the objectives for the period, how you intend to reach them, the amount you are going after and where the plan stands. It turns the intention to grow an account into something written, reviewable and visible to the team.

Large accounts do not grow by accident. Somebody decides where they want to get to with that customer, what path they will take and what it is worth. With nowhere to write that down, the plan lives in one person's head and disappears when they go on vacation or change teams. The Account plan is that place inside SellioCRM.

Where it lives

In the menu, under the Sales group, open Account plans. It is a standard object in the system, so it behaves like the others: a list with filters and saved views, search, import, export, comments, attachments and a change history on the record.

The standard fields

  • Title: required. It is the name of the plan, for example 2026 Plan, Acme.
  • Account: the company the plan is about. It is a lookup into your company records, not free text, so the plan is tied to the real customer.
  • Objectives: what you want to achieve at that account during the period.
  • Strategy: how you intend to get there.
  • Target value: the revenue the plan is going after, in your organization's money format.
  • Status: required, with the options Active, In review and Completed. New plans start as Active.

By default the list shows Title, Account, Target value and Status, and you can swap the columns as on any other list in the system.

How to use it in practice

  1. Pick the accounts that deserve a plan. A plan for every customer becomes paperwork; normally you only plan for the accounts that carry most of the revenue or most of the potential.
  2. Create the plan with a Title and an Account, write the Objectives as short, verifiable sentences and fill in the Target value.
  3. Describe the Strategy by saying what will be done, by whom and by when.
  4. Move the plan to In review when it is discussed with your manager, and to Completed at the end of the period.
  5. Review it on a fixed cycle, for example every quarter, comparing the Target value against what was actually won at the account.
Example: The Nortis Foods account brought in US$ 120,000 last year. The manager creates the plan 2026 Plan, Nortis, with a Target value of US$ 180,000, objectives of getting into two new locations and renewing the current contract for two years, and a strategy of mapping the head office procurement team by March. The status stays Active, and the April review decides whether it moves to In review or carries on.

What pairs well with the plan

The plan is the written strategy, and it stays written by people: nothing here fills in objectives or strategy for you. What changed is that the numbers now come to the plan. Open a plan with the Account field filled in and the Account signals panel shows, on the record itself, what the system already holds about that company: active contracts and open pipeline against the target value you wrote, how much is still missing, the buying committee and the key roles nobody has mapped, the health score, open risks and open tickets, and whether anybody at the account is in a sequence. The panel is read-only, and it gives no advice when no internal signal is asking for attention, which is information in its own right. Target account prioritization and the consolidated account view remain screens of their own for the reading across accounts.

Permissions and frequently asked questions

  • Who can create and edit? It follows the access profile for the Account plans object, set in Settings by administrators, like any other object.
  • I do not see the item in the menu. Most likely your profile has no read access to that object, or an administrator reorganized the menu.
  • I deleted a plan by accident. It goes to the Trash and can be restored within the retention window.
  • Can I add fields? Yes. Like every object in the system, the Account plan accepts new fields created by an administrator, for example main competitor or internal sponsor.
  • I do not see the Account signals panel. It only shows when the plan has the Account field filled in and your profile can read that company.
💡 Write objectives someone can mark as met or not met. Grow the account is not an objective; close the second location by June is.
