Installed base: assets, warranty and service history
Record what each customer bought and installed (equipment, serial number, warranty) and follow each asset's service history. Great for post-sale, warranty renewal and support.
The installed base is the record of the items you sold and installed at your customers. Each asset holds the product, serial number, customer, install date and warranty end, plus a history of everything that happened to it. It is optional and off by default; an administrator enables it in one click right on the screen.
- Open Installed base in the Products menu and enable the module if prompted.
- In Register asset, pick the product and customer and enter serial number, install date and warranty.
- Click an asset to see its history, add an event (serviced, moved, warranty claim) and change status (active, retired, RMA).
- The cards at the top summarize the base: how many assets, how many under warranty and how many expiring or out of warranty.
- Each asset's history is read-only (never removed), so the timeline always reflects what actually happened.
💡 When a warranty is about to expire, the asset is highlighted so you can act before the customer calls.
