Visual email editor (blocks)

Build email templates by stacking heading, text, button, image and divider blocks, with a live preview beside you and six ready-made starters. The editor generates safe HTML for you, with no code to write.

Writing email HTML that works in every reader is tedious and breaks easily. The visual editor replaces that with stacked blocks: you choose the type of each block, fill in the content, and the CRM assembles HTML that is ready to send.

Where it lives

  1. Open Marketing in the menu.
  2. Click More.
  3. Choose the Templates card.

Building the template

  1. Give the template a name, up to 120 characters.
  2. Add blocks and choose the type of each one: Heading, Text, Button, Image or Divider.
  3. Fill in the content: a Heading takes up to 300 characters, Text up to 5000, a Button has a label and an address, and an Image has an address and alt text.
  4. Reorder by dragging a block or using the up and down arrows, and remove whatever you do not want.
  5. Watch the preview beside the editor, which refreshes on its own, and save.

So you do not start from a blank page, use one of the six starters: Welcome, Newsletter, Promotion, Re-engagement, Announcement and Event invitation. Clicking one loads its blocks into the editor for you to adapt and save as a template of your own.

Example: The Event invitation starter ends up with four blocks: a Heading reading Webinar: how to shorten your sales cycle, a Text block with the date, the time and what will be shown, a Button labeled Save my seat pointing at the signup page, and a Divider before the signature.

Safety and limits

  • Each template takes up to 100 blocks.
  • The text you type is sanitized before it becomes HTML, so a special character neither breaks the email nor opens a hole.
  • Buttons and images only accept addresses starting with http, https or mailto. Any other address is neutralized.
  • Saving and deleting block templates requires permission to manage settings.

Plain text email templates

There is a second, simpler kind of template in Settings, Email templates: text templates with a Name, a Subject and a Body. Those are the ones offered in the bulk send composer and when you email from a record. Any user with write permission can create and edit these text templates.

💡 Today a block template is saved and previewed, but there is still no button to apply it inside a campaign or a sequence. If you need a ready template in the composer, use the text templates in Settings, Email templates.

Common questions

  • Do personalization variables work here? Substitution happens at send time, not in the editor. In the preview, the CRM uses a sample contact so you can see how the text reads.
  • Can I import finished HTML? No. The editor works in blocks, and that is exactly what guarantees predictable HTML across every email reader.
  • I deleted a template by mistake, can I recover it? No. A deleted template has to be rebuilt, which is why it is worth duplicating before big changes.
  • Why do I not see the save buttons? Because saving and deleting are reserved for people who can manage settings.
