CTAs · trackable calls to action

A CTA is a call-to-action button with a link of its own that counts every click before sending the person on to the destination. Use it to measure which invitations work on your website, blog, emails or signatures, and to tie those clicks to a campaign. You create the CTA in Marketing and use the generated link wherever you like.

When you spread the same invitation across several places, the website, the email footer, a blog post, it becomes impossible to tell which one brought people in. The CTA solves that: each call to action gets a link of its own inside SellioCRM. Whoever clicks passes through that link, the click is counted and the person goes straight on to the final address. They notice no difference; you get the number.

Where it lives

Open Marketing in the menu and go to the CTAs tab. Creating, editing and deleting a CTA is an action for whoever administers the organization's settings. Everyone else still sees the tab and the click counts, but cannot change anything.

Creating a CTA

  1. In Marketing, on the CTAs tab, click New CTA.
  2. Fill in the Name. It is the internal name, the one that identifies the CTA in your list.
  3. Fill in the Button label. It is the text you intend to put on the button, kept alongside so the team does not improvise different wordings.
  4. Enter the destination address, starting with https://. The destination has to be a complete web address.
  5. If you like, pick a campaign from the list. The CTA then counts as an asset of that campaign.
  6. Click Save.

In the list, every CTA has a Copy link button. It copies the CTA's trackable address. Use that address in place of the original link: on your website button, in the blog post, in the email, in your signature, in a social media bio. Every time someone opens it, the counter goes up and the person is taken to the destination you registered.

Example: Norvale Consulting creates the CTA Book a demo, with the label I want a demo, pointing to its scheduling page, and links it to the Q1 Launch campaign. The link goes on the website button and in the team's email footer. Two weeks later the list shows 214 clicks, and the team finds out the email footer outperformed the website banner.

Reading the numbers

The list shows, for each CTA, the name, the destination address and the accumulated click count. The number is the total number of times the link was opened since it was created: it does not separate different people from repeat visits by the same one. To separate sources, create one CTA per place it will appear, for example one for the website and another for the email, both pointing to the same destination.

Editing and deleting

Editing lets you change the name, label, destination and campaign. The CTA's link does not change when you edit, so switching the destination redirects everyone who already has the old link. Deleting removes the CTA along with its count, and the link stops working: anyone clicking after that lands nowhere. If you only want to stop promoting it, the safer move is to pull the link from your materials and keep the CTA, so you do not lose the history.

Limits and cautions

  • The destination has to be a complete web address. Internal addresses or relative paths are not accepted and the link will not redirect.
  • The CTA link is public and asks for no sign-in: anyone holding it reaches the destination. Do not use it for restricted content.
  • Linking to a campaign is optional and exists so the CTA shows up as an asset of that campaign.
  • The name and the button label are for your team's internal use. Nothing you write here changes how your website looks: you build the button yourself, in your own material.
💡 Give names that say where the CTA is published, for example Demo website home and Demo email footer. Comparing two numbers only helps when you know where each one came from.
